» JOAKIM: … And in the studio, look, over the last two weeks, aside from Coldplay going viral here in Singapore, (SONIA: Yep. Yep.) I think on TikTok, on your news articles, you would have seen them, they're now familiar faces. (SONIA: Yes.) And I'm really glad because they are doing a lot for the Deaf community here in Singapore. Not just for the Coldplay concert, but let's have them tell you their story. We've got Daniel and Shawn in the studio!

SINGAPORE – When Coldplay singer Chris Martin performed two of the British band’s songs in Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) at their ongoing National Stadium concerts, the results were not perfect.
But Ms Lily Goh, the Singaporean deaf artiste who made a video of Something Just Like This (2017) in SgSL for the 46-year-old frontman to follow, says she “closed one eye” and still sees it as a win for the deaf community.

Sign-language interpreters at Coldplay's concerts in Singapore have gained some attention for making the music accessible to the deaf community. Mr Daniel Yong, 24, and Mr Shawn Fang, 29, are part of a three-man team, conveying emotions and meanings of lyrics through visual interpretations. They hope that more concerts and entertainment shows here will have greater accessibility for the deaf community.
